The BLM Movement, something we society should ALL be familiar about. I feel as if it is not spoken about enough. So here is a convincing speech about the BLM movement.
Prejudice around crime and colour, treating humans differently because of their skin is embarrassing. To see that that still happens even now so far into our generation, most of prejudice and treating people with different skin colour is all being influenced by the media, news, your instagram feed, everything you see or read on the media about racism and prejudice will affect you. Take america for example, riots, a.c.a.b., even the filming of prejudice. A.c.a.b means (all cops are bastards). George Floyd, born 14 october 1973, died 25th of may 2020. Cause of death: having “different skin”. While being held down by a knee of a police officer, George Floyd suffers on the words “please i cant breathe!”. If a white man forged a check like Floyd that would be counted as “nothing” or “normal” because he’s white. The prejudice in this world is becoming more and more a normalised thing when it should never be normalised, instead it should be taught or educated to people. Equality, whether you have dark, light, tan skin it shouldn’t matter because we are all humans. In society as people we try and not to “be ” or “sound” racist, because you don’t want to “accidentally” say something wrong around coloured people. But actually when you do exactly that you end up sounding more racist. We shouldn’t have to think.
“It’s not getting worse. It’s getting filmed” – quoted by Will Smith, racism is everywhere around the world. It all leads back to the media one way or another, we can’t stop it, but we can prevent racism from being spread around the world. Stop filming racism, it’s not a movie so dont treat it like one. This quote “its not getting worse, it’s getting filmed” clearly stating that racism has always been a constant in America. The only difference today, Smith states, is that it is “being filmed” because of the luxury of modern technology. Now it feels as if black lives matter has become a trend. A trend on the internet for people to post about, or make up twisted stories of their own just to get fame.
Treating others differently through the internet is just as bad as it is in person. You’re literally putting out racism on the internet for everyone to see. So in conclusion we as humans should treat others equally because your skin colour should not define you as a person.
